Just who is Bossy Bear? Bossy Bear is a character created by the creator of Ugly Dolls, David Horvath. The Bossy Bear series isn't as popular as I think it should be. My students love him and his friend turtle. Although he isn't the best role model to show good manners, he's a great example to show what NOT to do, unless you want to lose friends. My students love Bossy Bear because of how he behaves. He's a pretty crummy friend. He tells you what to do, he wants you to give him everything, he's impatient, and everything needs to be done his way. At some point, his friends get tired of giving into his demands and stop being friends with his bossy behind. He eventually becomes very lonely until a turtle comes with a balloon. He resorts back to his bossy ways and demands Turtle to give him the balloon. Turtle puts up with it and becomes his friend. In Just Like Bossy Bear, Turtle has picked up a few bad traits from Bossy Bear. Bossy Bear realizes how bad this is and decides he needs to do something to change Turtle before he ends up completely like Bossy Bear. Bossy Bear sees the error in his ways and becomes a good role model. But will this new change influence his friend to become good as well? Buy the books! It's one of those books that is instantly adored by readers. It's a real shame it isn't as well known as I think it should be. Bossy Bear and Just Like Bossy Bear are also extremely hard to find. I purchased Bossy Bear at a used bookstore and Just Like Bossy Bear through Amazon marketplace. I would love to get my hands on the Bossy Bear vinyl toys but they are very expensive. I'll stick to making my own Bossy Bear and Turtle out of cardboard and paper.
