"I miss my mommy," he replied.
They all did. He was given an old Paddington bear to help him cope. He hugged it as if it were his own. But nothing could replace the warm hug from his mother, so he did what everyone else was doing...cry.

"They'll pick you up in two and a half hours," they said.
It might as well have been an eternity for him. Nothing was going to cheer him up unless he was back home with the people he loved. Not even a trip to the playground could brighten this kid's day. He knew what he wanted and nothing was going to change that... Unless.. Yes! There was one thing that took his mind away from the emptiness he felt inside. Numbers. As soon as this kid saw that they were counting, he was in his comfort zone. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6...
"What comes next?" the man asked.
"7!" he shouted without hesitation. He knew 7 came after 6 and he felt great putting that number up on the calendar. Still, sadness filled his heart as he waited desperately for the day to be over and to go home.

"Are you okay?" they asked her.
She nodded yes. She wanted to believe it, but it was hard. She still missed her family. But she was strong. She didn't let sadness get in the way of who she was, a polite little girl going through a rough and tough day of being separated from the ones she loved ever so dearly.
As the day progressed, she grew stronger. The sadness faded but it still lingered about.
